Good people lose their jobs to "restructuring" all the time.
But it really sucks when it happens to you.
I've about had it with the last 6 months or so. So, God - I'm crying "Uncle"...enough already.
Please.

I'm sorry - I'm feeling a little slow today... You're getting restructured out of a job?!
You know where to find me if you need to vent about this...
I am also slightly unclear - what's been going on these last six months?
I was laid off once from a job as an assistant editor, and although it turned out to be the very best thing for me in the long run (I then joined my now husband when otherwise I would have stayed to save enough money), it was devastating at the time. I hope this all turns out well for you.
I, too, can provide a shoulder. And chocolate.
It started in November with the death of a family friend, then my dad's surgery, then I was really sick, then my mom got sick, now I'm losing my job. I'm just feeling a little sorry for myself, I suppose. It'll pass.
Thanks for the comfort, Chili and O'Mama, I truly do appreciate it. More than I can say.
The good news is, even if I don't find a job right away, I get severance and could spend the summer with Booger!
Oooh - be careful of that, Snob. Taking the summer off to be with Booger may spoil you for ever working again!
If there's anything I can do to help or support you, let me know!
That's my fear, too. But at least IF I don't get a job, I can fall back on the severance. The goal, for sure, is transitioning right into another job.
I wish you the best of luck in your job search. In the meantime, enjoy your downtime with Booger AND the opportunity for clarity. Swear a lot - that helps too.
I'm looking for clarity myself on the job front, May that tired cliche about the doors opening hold true for us both!
